Eye Center of Virginia is pleased to welcome Dr. Fadee M. Bittar.
Dr. Bittar will be seeing both new and established patients for comprehensive eyecare to include glasses and contact lenses, evaluations for diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration, specialty contact lens fittings, dry eye and ocular surface disease, cataract evaluation, refractive surgery evaluations, and treatment of glaucoma. He has been practicing and serving the Hampton Roads community for 16 years.
Dr. Bittar grew up on the Island of Antigua in the Caribbean Islands. He attended the University of Western Ontario in London, Canada where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in biology with honors. After completing his undergraduate education, he went on to pursue his medical training at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia Pa., graduating with honors in 2005.
Dr. Bittar has completed clinical rotations in advanced ophthalmology surgical services at the prestigious Eye Center of South Florida in Miami Florida. There he was responsible for the acute post-operative care of cataract, retina and glaucoma patients, but also gained specialty training in medical care of glaucoma patients. He subsequently went on to work in the nations veteran’s medical health system, at the Newington VA Medical Center in Connecticut where he was responsible for the ongoing medical eye care needs of our nations veterans. He completed both pediatric and low vision specialty rotations at the prestigious Eye Institute of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia. In addition, Dr. Bittar has completed clinical training in private practice where he emphasized contact lens fitting and general eye care. He has been practicing and serving the Hampton Roads community in the area of comprehensive and pediatric optometry, glaucoma, dry eyes and general disease treatment and contact lens fitting since 2005. Dr. Bittar consistently works to stay current with the latest innovations and treatments in his field through continued education programs.
Dr. Bittar lives with his wife and three children in Newport News, VA. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his family and friends, especially playing soccer with his children and sharing his passion of fishing, gardening and grilling. Dr. Bittar also enjoys giving back to the community. As an active member of a church community, he has volunteered at different organizations within Hampton Roads as well as the Portsmouth Naval Hospital and a local high school, where he educated students on the profession of optometry and the importance of eye health.
